Whether it’s the phasing out of coal or the “Fridays for the Future” movement, the topic of climate change is more present than ever in the media and in research. In 2019, the research vessel POLARSTERN of the Alfred Wegener Institute leads the MOSAiC expedition, the largest expedition to date to explore the northern polar region and collect valuable data on climate change.

On this occasion, the German Maritime Museum, Leibniz Institute for Maritime History, presents the special exhibition »Sea Changes – World & Sea in Flux«, which explores the interaction between man and the sea in the context of research, science and shipping.
